This is something I am rather curious about myself after my first run through the campaign. You will have to decide in the end who you will support, and how you play each faction will determine which "side" they will be on in the end, or even if they will be entirely independent. just people trying to survive while the Empress and CORE continue to create machinations against each other, and attempt to involve the other factions as puppets. That's the basics of this universe AFAICT. This all happened after you left on your sleeper journey, so for 200 years, societies had been slowly going independent, siding with CORE, or siding with the Empress (though most hate her because of what she did to try to stop CORE). The Empress is apparently immortal, and can possess individuals at any time to make them do what she wants. The Empress tried to stop it using (some say) overly drastic measures, which resulted in the cataclysm.ĬORE was not destroyed by that, but the empire was now so torn apart that it didn't have the power it once did. ![]() It took over all the computer functions in the old society to the point where it was basically starting to control everything.
